Can our own security team work in New Zealand?
Generally no. Security work in New Zealand requires a licence or Certificate of Approval from the Private Security Licensing Authority under the Private Security Personnel and Private Investigators Act 2010, and overseas licences and qualifications do not transfer. Visiting operators would also need a visa with the right to work here. For short visits this is rarely achievable, which is why international teams engage a licensed local provider instead.
How do overseas security companies usually structure this?
The proven model is simple. We provide the licensed close protection team on the ground and you send one of your own people as a client liaison. The liaison does not carry out security work so does not need a New Zealand licence, and your client is protected lawfully to the standard you expect. We have delivered exactly this arrangement for international security companies operating in Auckland.
Our principal travels with their own protection. Can you provide just a security driver?
Yes, and this is one of our most requested services from visiting teams. New Zealand drives on the left, driving a client for reward legally requires a New Zealand P endorsement, and local route knowledge cannot be imported.
